The truth about CODM name fonts

A lot of guides say CODM names allow “only A–Z, 0–9 and underscore” — that’s the Activision account rule, not the in-game name. The CODM name field actually accepts Unicode through a filter:

  • Safest: Bold and Small Caps — best accept-rate, least likely to box.
  • Usually fine: cursive, gothic and the bracket symbols above (may box on old devices).
  • Risky / rejected: stacked symbols (๖ۣۜ), gun art, zalgo and emoji — the filter reverts bad names to “Player.”

The name is 2–14 characters; a clan tag shows as [TAG] separately. First change is free; after that a Rename Card costs CP (or 1000 Credits, the free route).

FAQ

Can CODM names have symbols and fonts?

Yes — the in-game name field takes Unicode fonts and symbols through a filter (that “letters, numbers, underscore only” rule is for your Activision account, not the CODM name). Bold and Small Caps are the most reliable.

Why did my CODM name change to “Player”?

The filter rejected a character and reset it. Avoid stacked symbols, gun art, zalgo and emoji; stick to Bold, Small Caps and the safe symbols, within 14 characters.

Does the clan tag count toward the limit?

No — the clan tag shows as [TAG] before your name and is separate from the 2–14 character name limit.
