Subscript

Make subscript — small lowered characters like H₂O or x₁. Type anything and copy the tiny text; it pastes anywhere, no formatting button required.

Where subscript works (and its limit)

  • Works everywhere text does: ✅ real Unicode characters, so they paste into docs, Instagram, TikTok, Discord and messages with no subscript button.
  • Coverage is partial for letters: ⚠️ every digit has a subscript form (₀–₉), but Unicode only has subscript versions of some letters — the rest pass through normal. That’s a Unicode limit.
  • Perfect for chemistry (H₂O, CO₂) and indices (x₁, aₙ), where the numbers are what matter.

FAQ

How do I make subscript text?

Type your text or formula above and copy the lowered version — great for H₂O, CO₂ and indices like x₁. No formatting button needed.

Why are some letters not lowered?

Unicode only defines subscript forms for the digits and a subset of letters, so unsupported letters stay normal. All digits work, so chemical formulas and indices come out right.

Does subscript work in Google Docs and Discord?

Yes — because it’s plain Unicode you can paste it anywhere text is accepted, including places without a subscript button.
